Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 8 of 10 – Part 9 – Edges

I wasn’t making much progress on the tree trunks or the lower edge so I thought I would continue working on the edge pieces. I was even having a hard time with the edge pieces. Just wasn’t my morning for puzzling… so I went to bed.

Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 8 of 10 – Part 8 – Tree trunks

I started gathering all the pieces I could find that had even the smallest amount of orange on it and I was able to piece together some tree trunks on the left hand side hill. The tree trunk closest to the edge is just an outline… find the right dark pieces was a little tricky.

The office where I where I work has moved to a different suburb so my travel time has increased and as a result I have less time elsewhere. I’ve also found I’ve had less time recently, even before the move, and I’m wondering if it is because my younger brother is living with me now…

Finally figured out where the edge pieces that I had built up on space above the right-hand side of the puzzle. It actually fit in on the left! I was trying to piece it on the right-hand side and it wasn’t really working…

This was a short little puzzle session before I had to go to work.

Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 8 of 10 – Part 6 – Autumn Leaves?

I continued working on the bottom portion building up the left-hand side of the roadway which looks like a hill. It has more green scattered through it than the right-hand side. I think it’s Autumn leaves and foliage on the hill but I’m wondering if it is maybe some kind of moss as there is so much green to go at the top.

Had another successful puzzle session and built up the right-hand side with orange pieces. Kind of looks like lava… but I know it’s foliage.

Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 8 of 10 – Part 4 – Roadway & Something Classic

I managed to make a fair amount of progress while being educated on the latest Dragon Ball Z movie by my younger brother. They are apparently creating an entirely new series of Dragon Ball Z and just sweeping the entire GT series under the table like it never happened. Good idea I think, and as I’m sure a lot of Dragon Ball fans think, as GT was absolutely terrible.

I started working on this puzzle similarly to the previous puzzle where I didn’t finish the outline edge first. I created one edge and then worked from there. I thought the grey pieces stood out really well against all the orange pieces so I went for those first and pieced them all together to create what I believe to be a road dwindling into the distance.

I’m excited to see how things progress from here. Also the Dragon Ball Z movie was quite good. Not so sure about the look of the Super Saiyan God form or the more kiddy-cartoon stylization of the anime. But overall it was quite good and seemed to have the classic Dragon Ball Z feel.

Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 8 of 10 – Part 3 – Poor Lighting & Poor Photography

I really didn’t realise how bad this photo was until I got it onto the computer. Unfortunately I can’t go back in time and take the photo again. Hopefully I will find time next month to practice taking photos on my Nikon camera. I’m excited to really learn the ins and out of the camera and start producing more professional looking images. I think it will really help the look of this site and its also just a skill I’ve always wanted to develop, not just because my dad is a professional photographer.

I took this photo in bad lighting too as my younger brother tends to sleep in the lounge on the recliner, so I didn’t want to turn any lights on or open the windows and wake him, so I only had light creeping in from the front door.

As per usual, I have sorted all the pieces out on the puzzle mat and any surplus pieces I have arranged on the outer edges of the coffee table where the mat falls short. I was actually really surprised by how the puzzle mat almost fits exactly onto the coffee table. It’s really good to have another surface to do jigsaw puzzles.

From the colourings of the pieces, there are a lot of orange and reds so I’m thinking this is going to be another Autumn/Fall landscape image. As I was sorting the pieces, I have placed the edge pieces in the center, as I always do, so that I can easily have a starting point to begin piecing the puzzle together.

Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 8 of 10 – Part 1 – A New Beginning!

After finishing the last puzzle, I was so motivated to start a new puzzle! I had recently inherited a coffee table as my work was throwing it away. It’s a good quality wood one so of course I was like, yoink! I think it will be super fun to do the jigsaw puzzle in the lounge room on the coffee table.

This puzzle is another 750 piece jigsaw puzzle and I thought it would be groovy to show how the puzzles come bagged. When I finish the puzzles I put the pieces in a resealable zip-lock bag and I write the puzzle number on the bag with a sharpie.

Birthday Jigsaw Puzzle Progress – Puzzle 7 of 10 – Part 16 – Complete!

Yay! Finally complete! This session was very short as I didn’t have very many pieces to fill in. I always enjoy looking at a completed puzzle. Can’t wait to start the next one!
